Camping Chairs

Roughing it does not have to be rough if you have a good camping chair. Part of the appeal of camping, is the opportunity to relax and get away from the rush of everyday life. Comfortable camping chairs help you in this pursuit.

Chairs that are designed just for camping are portable, sturdy and much more comfortable than ordinary folding lawn chairs. They are usually made of a strong canvas material, with a sturdy metal frame. Whether you are eating, reading, fishing, or just sitting and looking at the stars, the right chair makes the experience even better. When you are through, just fold them up and stow them away. Folded camping chairs take up very little space, and usually come with a convenient carrying bag. They are very lightweight and easy to carry.

Having extra equipment like special chairs may seem like an unnecessary luxury on a camping trip, but wouldn’t your family or group rather sit on well-made camping chairs than on the damp ground, a sharp rock or hard tree stumps?

Camping is not as fun if the seat of your pants is always damp. This could make all the difference, especially if your group includes fussy teenagers, or older campers who have a hard time getting up off the ground. Good quality camping chairs make everyone on the trip feel more comfortable.

They now come in a variety of styles and colors. Some sit low to the ground. These camping chairs are great for fishing or cooking over an open fire. They help keep you from having to bend or stoop over a lot. You can fish all day from one of these camping chairs, then move it close to the fire to roast marshmallows and tell ghost stories to the kids.

Some models have weight restrictions. Larger people need to watch for this feature. They should look for camping chairs with a sturdy, broad frame. There are specially companies that manufacture camping equipment for the larger, heavier camper. Better safe then sorry.

If there are people in your group who want extras they do come with cushioned seats and arm rests. Others have cup holders and side pockets. Recliners and camping chairs with footstools are also available. The level of comfort that you seek is up to you. Child-sized camping chairs are great for the little ones, but don’t let them get too close to the fire. Some kids’ chairs tip easily, especially if the child gets excited and moves around a lot.

After your camping trip your chairs may be cleaned with soap and warm water. Some can be removed from the frame and thrown right into the washer. Hang them on the line to drip dry. When camping season is over, use your chairs as extra seating during the holidays or family gatherings. They are also great for kids playing video games.

Camping Cots

The joys of camping are numerous. Being thrust into nature in the great outdoors provides many natural pleasures. Remembering my days as a girl scout, I remember the old fashioned tents with poles and spikes that took hours to put up as well as all of the heavy equipment we had to lug with us when we decided to move on and set up again elsewhere.

The largest downside, for me of camping (besides the mosquitoes) was sleeping on the floor of the tent with nothing but a sleeping bag between myself and the hard earth below. Camping cots would have made the experience much more enjoyable. Camping cots definitely did exist back then but they were large bulky things. They were heavy and hard to carry. The comfort value of your average 1970’s camping cot was questionable at the best of times.

Times have now changed and everything has moved on. Camping had changed dramatically and the equipment quality has increased ten-fold. Tents are now able to be put up in a matter of minutes rather than hours and equipment is now safer and lighter to carry. Camping can almost be an experience of luxury now. Camping cots are no different. They have moved on and evolved as every other aspect providing comfort, convenience and style to your camping trips.

You need to consider a few things before buying a cot to take with you. One is weight. If you are going hard core camping, meaning hiking and carrying everything without benefit of a car then you want camping cots that are relatively light. The last thing you want on your back is something that weighs a ton.

You can choose from a variety of light weight models in a variety of styles. They range in price from 20 dollars on up to 200 some weighing less than 4 pounds. There are fancy 2 person camping cots as well that sleep 2 people and can hold combined weights of over 400 pounds. These can fold up to the size of a news paper and weigh only 8 ½ pounds.

Don’t forget about durability. You want something that is going to last, not lose its shape and be covered with rust. Remember, camping cots do not have a pleasant life. When in use camping cots are exposed to elements and large amounts of weight. When they’re not in use they are folded up and packed away. You need something that will tolerate this.

Make your next camping trip more enjoyable by bringing along more than just a sleeping bag to slumber in. Getting a good night’s sleep while in the great outdoors is possible.

When we head off to the timber, I know there’s one thing she absolutely has to have and that’s one of those new-age camping heaters. Have you even heard of such a thing? Actually camping heaters have been around for some time. Of course we only used them in our ice fishing tents. Anyway, my wife is certainly the cold-natured one in our household.
